Advices to Become a Great Entrepreneur
by Perjan Duro, Founder
A successful entrepreneur needs to have many qualities. First of all, they need to be competent, confident and knowledgeable. They need to be aware of the current news in business and economy, as well as to know the market and what customers want. However, this isn’t all, there are also law, mathematics, social skillet. At least the basics are essential in order for you to know what a good idea is and what isn’t. Later on, as you establish yourself and your company, you will have the luxury of not having to know everything because you will have trustworthy employees, but in the beginning, you need to have all the information. So, let’s see what some of the main focuses of a developing entrepreneur should be.
In today’s world of fast communication and amazingly developed technology, including bank loans and credit opportunities, people are starting up their businesses like never before. Unfortunately, only 1 out of 10 startups manages to survive the fierce competition nowadays. This is why it’s safe to say that business people don’t have it easy and that they have to try much harder than their predecessors.
Create a business plan
It may sound silly, but putting together an actual business plan can be very helpful for you and your business. Fictional plans simply aren’t as effective since you’re allowed to move deadlines and make other changes without even noticing it. On the other hand, with an actual plan, everything is written down and seems more serious. Not to mention that all your employees can see it and be reminded that they need to work hard in order to accomplish all the goals this plan contains.
Know your audience
Some bosses get so involved with running the company that they forget about the biggest force that is keeping their company alive – customers. You need to know your customers and the way to do it is to constantly ask for feedback. You are looking for both positive and negative feedback. They’re both equally important. Even if sometimes you don’t agree with the comments you get, you should gather statistics and see if it’s a good decision to listen to your customers because, after all, they are the ones that should be satisfied.
Social media
Social media is and should be used widely among business people. We’re sure you already have accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc, which you update several times a day. Being in charge of social media is a full-time job. There’s no use of an account that isn’t accessible when you need it.
Partner up smartly
Being on top of everything is something you should strive for. However, as your company makes progress, you should be able to find a way to delegate some things to reliable employees. Forming partnerships is also a great way to compensate for something your company lacks. Of course, you need to be very careful when forming partnerships. This is a two-way street and if you’re willing to do your part well, they will probably do theirs, too. However, if you notice your partners are not doing a good job, cut them off. You don’t need anyone dragging you down.
Reward good employees
It’s very important and motivating to reward hard-working employees. Unfortunately, we tend to focus on punishing bad behavior, but not rewarding good. Giving out bonuses and raising people’s salaries are excellent ways to get what you want from your employees. For instance, if you see some of your employees finish all the work before the deadline or if you see them staying after hours and doing very well, make sure to let them know you value their effort. That way, they’ll be happy and proud and they’ll keep acting that way. They may even be an inspiration to others, as well.
Provide legal support
Many entrepreneurs fear potential lawsuits from other companies, employees or simply the state for omitting something in their documentation or accidentally breaking the law without being aware of it. This fear is justified since the law is complicated and nobody expects you or your employees to know everything. This is why having a good company lawyer is a must. This lawyer should be in charge of preventing lawsuits and dealing with the existing ones.
If you follow these tips while constantly trying to be better at your job, it will be OK. Plus, if you have a good and reliable team of experts around you and you love your job, success is almost guaranteed.
